"My honest, unfiltered opinions on the world. A virtual manifesto, if you will."

The State of Modern Music

I am sick, and i mean, SICK of modern music- rock specifically. All just recycled chord progressions or power chords. Not that I'm any good at writing unique songs, but come on. I'm not gonna listen to your electro-rock side project which sounds like a watered down Jesus And The Mary Chain...Funnily enough, I wrote a short story about this. I'll put it up somewhere here soon.

The Problem with Streaming Services

Streaming services have killed the joy of music discovery. Algorithms and recommendations can't replace the thrill of flipping through vinyl or CD racks. Same goes for films, sure it's convenient to watch stuff on Netflix, or BBC iPlayer, Disney plus or god knows what, but it's somebodys work that you're viewing. Show a little respect!

Consumerism

I cannot go for a walk in the modern age of 2024, without being visually molested by the sight of three billboards, a McDonalds, ten car dealerships, an Asda, flyers and a 300 space car park. It fucking sucks. It makes me want to go to a tiny isolated town in, who knows, Finland, that couldn't tell you what Burger King is, who Elon Musk is, and what an iPhone is. But come on- has the earth really stooped this low?

Social Media and the Decline of Genuine Connection

Social media has made us more connected than ever, yet it's paradoxically isolated us from real, face-to-face human interaction. No one my age wants to go and hang out when they can switch on their Xbox. It's incredibly dystopian, and has killed many aspects of life which I consider essential, including romance. You shouldn't be able to just ask out a girl or boy you fancy by sending them a text, it's pathetic! go and talk to them physically you numpty! Glued to your phone like an idiot. We rely too much on tech.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is getting really boring. It upsets me how I was born at such a late time, that when I matured and developed interests, they'd all gone out of fashion 20-40 years ago, and if a building, demolished. Maybe Princes street wouldn't feel like such a bore if the eye-opening brutalist masterpiece of the St. James Centre was still there. There's nothing for young people in Edinburgh - especially if you don't want to go around spending money, or getting in trouble. Everything interesting is 18 plus!

Age Retrictions

Honestly, unless we're talking about alchohol or similar things, age restrictions shouldn't be a thing. Why should i have to be sixteen or eighteen to go to a gig? Can young people not enjoy music? It's the same with most restaurants, hotels, clubs and everything. They just assume us minors are causing trouble! And people wonder why teenagers are depressed and rebelious nowadays. Good greif!

The Death Of Individuality, Poetry, And Independence

Could someone tell me why I haven't seen a british teenager in the last ten years wearing something that isn't an all black tracksuit? Why have we, as human beings lost the reason we live? If you're not your own unique person, anyone could be you. It wouldn't make a change. Also, and don't get me wrong, do what you enjoy, because I will never shame someone for not doing things that bore them, but rather participating in what is fun. But on the other hand, why doesn't anyone play an instrument anymore? Or write? Make art? It's all football.."Oh...did you hear the white man with the buzzcut kicked a ball into a net and he won against the other white men with buzzcuts last week?" Just be your own person. Do a drawing, even if it's utter shite. Write a poem. It's punk as fuck.

I Hate Ignorant People Who Diss Brutalist Architecture

If your reasoning for shitting on MY FAVOURITE STYLE OF ARCHITECTURE, is because it's "ugly", "boring" or "dull", then you are an ignorant, preppy little brat. You probably think the new St. James centre is better then the old one, eh? because it's "cleaner". Well SOD OFF!

TikTok

If there was one app i could remove, it'd be this one. Wanna scroll for hours looking at 5 second videos of copy and pasted "alternative" girls lip syncing to an audio? It's like those machines you put a coin in and a puppet dances to a song, but instead of wasting your money, you're wasting your bloody life, and YOU'RE the puppet.

Will there ever be a revolution?

However you put it, 90% of the earth is scum. Only rich people matter in society, apparently, and anyone else can starve to death. But it seems the age of revolutions are over. There's too much power, police, brainwashed zombies and lack of willing people. Have people accepted living like this? Almost none of our youth will grow up to afford a house. I hope, I really fucking hope, that things will change.
